Dear Parents/Caregivers,

We look forward to seeing our students again, if only for a short time before the summer break.

Beginning on June 8th, our schools will participate in a limited reopening. As we prepare to welcome your children back into our school facilities, it’s important to note that the safety of students, teachers, school staff and families remains paramount, which is why we continue to rely on the advice provided by public health officials.

Your help in keeping our students, teachers, and staff safe is appreciated. Please remind your children of recommended preventative measures, including the need for social distancing and good hand hygiene. Prior to attending school, we ask that all households self-screen for COVID-19 symptoms. Do not send your child to school if:

  • Your child, or other members of your household, has a fever, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath, or runny nose.
  • Your child has been in contact in the last 14 days with someone that is confirmed to have COVID-19.
  • Your child has travelled outside of Manitoba in the last 14 days.

If your child is unable to attend their in-school appointment for any of the reasons listed above, we will do our best to reschedule or provide alternate arrangements. If your child exhibits any symptoms while at school, our staff will isolate your child from others, and you will be requested to pick up your child immediately. Additional information regarding COVID-19 self-screening, testing, preventative measures, and public health orders can be found on the Government of Manitoba COVID-19 Website.

Lastly, a reminder that student attendance in June is by invitation only and during scheduled times (for social distancing purposes). Please do not send your child to school without a pre-arranged appointment time. As noted in previous HSD correspondence, we would love to see your child in school, but attendance is optional, and we respect the rights of parents/caregivers to keep their children at home during this time.

We are so excited for this opportunity to reconnect with students in our classrooms. If you have any questions regarding scheduling or safety concerns, please contact your child’s school to discuss further.

With Gratitude,
Randy Dueck, Superintendent-CEO
Hanover School Division
