Dear Parents/Guardians,

We would like to thank parents/guardians, teachers and students for their efforts to ensure that Niverville Middle School transitioned smoothly to a new way of learning and connecting. The week before Spring break was full of new experiences for many of us.

Please be advised that our teachers will continue preparing at-home learning plans for their students and will continue to deliver them through the already established lines of communication with the home. Please feel free to communicate directly with your child’s teacher(s), if you have any questions pertaining to your child’s learning plan.

As you make your way through the communication that continues to be sent from the school, we would like you to know that we feel that everyone’s well-being is the most important component that we need to take into consideration. The Home Based Learning approach is new for everyone involved so trying to find that balance has been difficult. Even though we see similarities in how our teachers are communicating with our families on a daily basis, the way and amount have varied just as much as the way our classrooms vary from grade 5 to grade 8. Also, the older our students are, the number of teachers involved in their learning increases and as a result, so does the amount of daily communication and work.

Please be advised that we have not yet received guidelines from Manitoba Education suggesting the amount of time our students should be working at home per grade level. We feel it is important to find a balance at home and create a schedule that works for you, as each family situation is unique. So please feel free to decide, if that time amount needs to be adjusted.

Once again, we would like to remind everyone to please check out both our school and divisional websites for the COVID-19 updates.

We wish you and your family safety and health. Thank you for all your support and patience.

Kind regards,

Michael Koester, Principal

Craig Cumming, Vice Principal
